Worldwork Graphic Novel
Hi,
I’ve embarked on a big journey with my friend Venetia Bouronikou to collaborate on a graphic novel about Worldwork. Worldwork is a conference we both attended in Greece this year. It’s a conference that works with world conflict through large group processes, interpersonal dynamics and within ourselves. Worldwork runs every 3 years in different locations around the world.
Venetia (who lives in Athens) and I studied Process Work together in Portland, Oregon. We have a close friendship that enables us to talk about our differences and reflect on world issues. Working on a graphic novel together has been a dream we have been carrying for at least 3 years. And now we have finally begun – Ta dah…!
We get together each week on Skype and try to nut out a few pages together. Then we go off and draw and watch videos and email each other. It’s going to be a slow digestion of this conference and we have both found it very moving to remember the interactions we witnessed. It’s a very big multicultural feast that doesn’t always go down easily and we are doing our best to nut out the group dynamics and create a narrative. Neither of us have done this before, but we are trusting that our relationship will hold this creative process.
Here is a video of the first page, so you can glimpse what we are doing. We will post more pages of our story as we go. Thanks for reading.
