Plein Air Painting Classes MARCH 2019
I’m offering plein air painting classes again in March, this time on Saturday mornings!
This class runs for 6 weeks.
Locations vary around Mclaren Vale and Willunga.
On rainy days we will be at Dog Ridge Wines. Thanks to Jen Wright for hosting us on these days.
The cool of morning is the most beautiful time to catch long shadows and soft light. These classes are structured. I will be going through equipment, things to consider when landscape painting in general, with a particular focus on how to approach painting outdoors.
For Beginner and Intermediate plein air painters.
The unique feature of landscape painting is creating a sense of deep space, distance and atmosphere. These lessons will help you understand how we perceive space through studying nature. You will have the experience of painting outdoors and develop skills in building a painting from tonal relationships and understand temperature, space and light. For intermediate painters you will begin to explore colour, light and composition.
Classes are for people who have not painted outside before and would like to learn. These sessions are also for the intermediate plein air painter who would like specific instruction on deepening their understanding of landscape painting. While plein air painting is challenging, spending time closely observing nature will greatly help your studio work.
Some equipment is necessary and these requirements will grow with your growth as a painter. I have 6 lightweight painting boxes for use if you have not ventured outside before. The class size is limited to 10 and you are welcome to bring your own equipment. You will be sent a materials list and further details upon registration.
COST for these 6 lessons is $330
Register by Friday 1st March at the early bird price of $300
